When you think of animal feeding and interactions in Singapore, the zoo’s probably the first in mind. But did you know that there are other places in Singapore where you can bring your toddler/children for animal feeding and interactions activities?
We have recently found some awesome spots where you can do some animal feeding and enjoy a nature walk at the same time. Its like hitting two birds with one stone, perfect for curious toddlers who love exploring! Plus, Singapore’s well-planned and safe paths make these little adventures stress-free for everyone.
Here are some of our favorite spots to check out:
Live Turtle Museum + Ground Up Initiative (GUI)
Start your day at the Live Turtle Museum, where you and your little one can meet all sorts of turtles up close. We (1 adult 1 child) paid $14 entrance fee which included some leafy veggies and pellets for feeding. They are also raising funds to move to a new location, so your visit helps out with that too.
Afterward, head over to Ground Up Initiative (GUI), a community space with workshops like wooden toy-making. Just a heads up, most activities are only on weekends, so plan accordingly! You can also grab snacks and drinks at their Sunday Cafe… on Sundays 🙂
Wildlife Tip: While walking around ORTO, you might spot common local birds like the Javan Myna or the colorful Long-tailed Parakeet. Keep an eye out for them!
Address: 81 Lor Chencharu #01-16, Singapore 769198
Entrance Fee: $14 (includes turtle feed)
Getting There: From Khatib MRT (NS14) – Take Exit A and walk about 10 minutes to ORTO. The museum is inside the ORTO leisure park, so it’s super convenient to get to!
Gallop Stable + Pasir Ris Mangrove Park
Gallop Stable was a big hit with Hopesie, who had a blast feeding the horses and bunnies. Unfortunately, he was not quite old enough for the pony rides (they have a minimum 3-year-old age requirement), but he loved every minute of feeding the animals. They also have an in house restaurant where you can order bite size snacks to full meals – perfect for a quick refuel!
Afterward, we took a chill walk through Pasir Ris Mangrove Park, which was just what we needed to unwind.
Even though we started around 11 AM, it was cool and shaded. We spotted some cool birds and had a great time hanging out in a little hut at the end of the trail; watching fishes and turtles swim by. It was such a relaxing and fun way to wrap up our adventure!
Oh, and if you’re into cycling, there’s a bike rental shop just outside Gallop Stable, so you can easily explore the park on wheels.
Wildlife Tip: The park is home to a variety of birds like the White-breasted Waterhen, Kingfishers, and even the occasional Purple Heron. You might also spot mudskippers and monitor lizards along the way so keep a look out!
Address: 61 Pasir Ris Green, Singapore 518225
Entrance Fee: Free; Animal Feed: $2 (Carrots for horses, Veggies for rabbits)
Getting There: From Pasir Ris MRT (EW1) – It’s about a 10-minute walk. Just head through the White Sands Mall, cross the road towards Pasir Ris Town Park, and follow the signs to Gallop Stable.
Hay Dairies + Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve
We got up bright and early to visit Hay Dairies for the goat milking session, and it was such a fun farm experience! Hopesie loved watching the goats being milked and feeding them afterward. The fresh goat milk was a nice treat, too.
Afterward, we explored Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, where the peaceful nature walk through mangroves and ponds was the perfect end to our day. Just make sure to double-check transportation options if you’re going on a weekday—cabs can be hard to find!
Wildlife Tip: Sungei Buloh is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. You might see Estuarine Crocodiles, Giant Mudskippers, and migratory birds like the Lesser Whistling Duck or even the Grey Heron. It’s a great spot for a little nature adventure with the kiddos!
Address: 250 Neo Tiew Cres, Singapore 719866
Entrance Fee: Free; Goat Feed: $5 (Alfalfa Hay)
Getting There: From Kranji MRT (NS7) – Take bus 925 (Mondays to Saturdays) or 925M (Sundays and public holidays). The bus stops right at the farm.
